Intermediate Silver Jewellery Intensive - 2 days
Develop your silver jewellery making skills in this two day intermediate / improvers level class.
This two day class will cover working with copper and silver, including cutting, shaping, soldering and finishing the metal. Students will explore ways of shaping and forming the metal to create three dimensional forms; rings, earrings, necklaces, as well as to start to create simple stone setting/s.
What we will cover is flexible and will depend on students interests and designs, but students can choose to explore topics from this selection;
- using doming punches and stakes to form metal
- basic stone settings
- wax carving for casting
- simple sand or cuttlefish casting
- improving soldering skills
- different ways of polishing and finishing metal surfaces
- making contemporary chains
- chemical etching
Suitable for anyone who has tried silver jewellery making, for example as a beginners class or short course, or who would like a refresher to get them re-started.
Class size - maximum of 3 people
Class held in my Camden, central London jewellery studio and runs from 10am to 5pm on each day.
