Kumihimo Day Workshop
Learn how to create beautiful textile or beaded cords using this fascinating Japanese braiding technique.
This one day class is flexible to suit the students involved - students have the option of working on a traditional Marudai (braiding stool), or using a contemporary foam disk, which is a portable version of this stool and will work on at least 2 or 3 braid structures during the day.
Beginners will start with a simple round braid, more advanced students will be supported to learn more complex braids, either using new structures, more tama (bobbins) or by incorporating decorative elements such as beads.
Students can choose to create either one or more braids, or a selection of sample lenths.
Suitable for anyone - both jewellers or braiders who are already familiar with some Kumihimo techniques, or those completely new to this form of braiding.
Class size - maximum of 4 people
