Press Forming for Jewellery - 2 Day Course
Learn how to use press forming to create three dimensional forms from sheet metal, for jewellery making.
Suitable for intermediate jewellers looking to try out a new process.
This course will look at simple ways to press shapes into metal sheets - press forming is used industrially to form repeatable dished shapes, but in a small / home jewellery studio, we can use it to create one off items, or to create repeated forms for limited production runs.
Sheet metal is gradually pressed into a specialliy maderecessed former to create a specific shape, this can be done by hand or using a press - the metal is then cut out and can be further embellished.
Over these two days we will explore different materials for making the former, the pressing process itself, as well as different designs and ideas for using the shapes created.
