Handheld Jewels
Above are the first instalment of pieces in this collection - a series of three hand held vessels.
Designed to carefully and comfortably fit the palm of the hand, they are jewellery, but jewellery that asks to be held rather than more passively worn. Intended to be elegant and calming forms, supremely tactile, and with the potential that as they are held, they demand your full attention - you can no longer also hold your phone, or work, and so encouraging a period of mindful relaxation and a temporary break from the pressures and demands of daily life.
All three are currently available for sale; they have been hammer formed using sinking and raising techniques, from silver sheet, and the final form gently created by hand to make each piece completely unique.

Below are shown some of the development / test pieces / work in progress that i created in the process of completing these first three pieces above.

These are 'in progress' shots of some of my working process - these will develop into a collection of exciting new pieces exploring form, and what a piece of jewellery can be. The initial starting point was an exploration of hand held items - making jewels that can fit to the shape and scale of the hand.
The act of 'wearing' the jewel - as they need to be held will encourage the wearer to take a break from everyday life and fully interact with the jewel for the time that they are wearing it.
