Stitched Beadwork / Off Loom Beadweaving

Stitched beadwork uses tiny seed beads - stitched together to create decorative forms.
Seed beads can be stitched onto fabric - bead embroidery, can be woven together using a loom - bead weaving, can be wrapped onto forms, or can be stitched using a variety of different stitches to stitch them to each other to create free - 'off loom' bead weaving.

I am fascinated by stitched beadwork / off loom bead weaving and have been since I was a teenager when I first did some - I love the way you can grow a piece from nothing, and watch the shape form as you add each new bead. It uses a variety of different stitches to build either 3D forms or flat sheets of beadwork. Different stitches will give different effects, as well as different ways to create shapes, and to allow different embellishments. Beadwork can be used on its own to create an entire piece of jewellery, or can be combined with other different mediums such as braiding, silver jewellery or bead stringing.
