Silver Jewellery Making with Argentium - Fusing and Melting
This is a one day class designed for anyone with some existing experience making jewellery from silver sheet and wire, to explore using Argentium silver.
Students will work through a series of technical exercises / projects to explore the techniques of fusing and controlled melting of Argentium silver.
Most regular silver jewellery is made from Sterling Silver - Argentium Silver is a newer alloy of silver with slightly different ingredients in the mix that give it enhanced properties. It is particularly good at melting and fusing smoothly, compared to Sterling silver.
We will cover; -
Fusing sheet and wires edge to edge
Fusing sheet and wires overlapping
Melting elements of sheet and wire
Incorporating gold with Keum Boo
We can be flexible on the day - you can adapt your design and make your own variation on this themes
Class size - maximum of 3 people - there will be plenty of individual support
Class runs from 10am to 5pm - there will be a one hour lunch break where you can explore the market and food stalls or relax and refuel in a local cafe.
This class is held in my Camden, central London, jewellery studio - this is close to both Camden Town tube station and Camden Road overground station.
The workshop is downstairs, so if you have mobility issues / have trouble manoeuvring stairs, then do get in touch before booking.
